Tools Function in CorelDraw For Beginner and Creative Graphic Designers - Knowing the functions and mastering the use of CorelDraw tools is the main requirement to become a creative and professional graphic designer. CorelDraw is a software used to create drawings or designs with a vector base.

1. Pick Tool

The pick tool functions to select, select, and adjust the size and position of the object. In addition, in the pick tool option, there are several additional tools such as:

2. Shape Tool

This tool may be very useful for those of you who often create illustrative drawings such as sketches or cartoons. The Attract and Repel tool functions to freely change part of the object by becoming curved or pointed. To use it, click and drag outwards or inside from the selected part of the object. Then to give it a smoother effect, drag it while holding down the mouse button.

7. Smudge Tool

The smudge tool serves to change parts of objects with the shape of a circle or arch. The trick is to click on the line of the selected object and you can freely change the shape of the object. 

8. Roughen Tool

You can use the Roughen tool to turn parts of objects, especially on lines, into pointed or jagged shapes such as saws. The way to use it is to click the object section and drag it. You can also use this tool to create images of grass or other objects with rough shapes.

9. Crop Tool

You must be familiar with this tool. The crop tool has a function to cut and disappear parts of the selected object. As for how you just select the part of the object you want to remove.

In addition to the crop tool, there are also other additional tools such as:

  • Knife tool, to cut objects.
  • Virtual Segment Delete tool, to delete corner parts or encounters between lines on objects.

10. Zoom Tool

12. Artistic Media Tool

The Artistic Media tool serves to create lines with various shapes or styles. Starting from the shape of the brush, sprayer, calligraphic, to expression. Each of the styles can be seen in the image below. In this tool selection there are also additional tools such as:

  • LiveSketch tool, which works to create lines like pencil scribbles in a sketch drawing or design.
  • Smart Drawing tool, to make strikethrough lines into the object you want automatically.

13. Rectangle Tool

The Rectangle tool is a tool that you can use to draw objects with a square shape of 4 or squares.  In this tool there is also a 3-point Rectangle tool that functions to draw a square with straight corners and lines.

14. Ellipse Tool

Ellipse tool serves to draw objects with a circle or oval shape.  In this tool there is also a 3 point Ellipse tool that serves to draw a circle starting with a straight line. 

15. Polygon Tool

The Polygon tool serves to create objects with various numbers of facets (angles) such as, pentagons, sixes, or more. In addition to polygons, in this tool there are also several additional tools that can be used to create objects with other shapes:

  • Star tool, to create objects with star shapes
  • Spiral tool, to create objects with spiral shapes
  • Common Shapes tool, to create various objects with various shapes such as, parallelograms, arrows, and much more.
  • Impact tool, to create images with a ray-like stripe effect.
  • Graph paper tool, to create objects such as tables or square arrangements.

16. Text Tool

This tool serves to create writing or objects with writing shapes. You can also use the text tool to add text to the desired object. 

17. Table Tool

The table tool serves to create objects with a table shape and can be added to the inscription inside. 

18. Parallel Dimension Tool

Next is a tool that will be very useful for those of you who like to design buildings or architecture.  Parallel Dimension tool serves to create a line along with its size in length / width.

  • Horizontal or Vertical Dimension tool, to create measuring lines with horizontal and vertical positions.

19. Connector Tool

20. Shadow Tool

The shadow tool serves to give a shadow effect to an object. In addition, there are also other tools that can give interesting effects to objects such as:

  • Contour tool, to create new objects sequentially based on their initial shape
  • Blend tool, serves to connect between two different objects
  • Distort tool, to give an effect that can change the shape by dragging a part on the line of the object.
  • Envelope tool, to warp a part on the selected object.
  • Extrude tool, to add 3D shapes or spaces to objects. 
  • Block Shadow tool, to give a bold shadow effect based on angular points on objects. 

21. Transparency tool

The transparency tool serves to give a transparent effect to part or all of the object.

22. Color Eyedropper Tool

The transparency tool is used to take a color sample of an object and put it into the color box. In this tool, there is also an additional tool, the Attributes Eyedropper tool, which functions to start sampling attributes from objects, such as outlines, fill colors, and effects. 

23. Interactive Fill Tool

The Interactive Fill tool serves to give fills into an object such as, solid colors, gradations, patterns, and other presets. In addition, there are also some additional tools in this tool selection such as:

  • Smart Fill tool, which functions to give a color based on a specific area to the object.
  • Mesh Fill tool, to give and set gradation colors based on the guide lines.

24. Outline Tool

This tool serves to adjust the size, thickness, and color of the line when creating an object.
